What to bring
- Identity document and tax code (codice fiscale)
- Up-to-date INPS contribution statement (if you don't have it, we'll get it for you)
- CU or payslips from your most recent periods of work
- Family status certificate (stato di famiglia) and your latest income-tax return
- IBAN for the pension payments
- Documents for any periods of work abroad
- For a survivor's pension: death certificate and details of your family member's pension
Expected timings
The first step is to check your contributions: that way we understand when and how you can retire. Your pension does not always start on the day you meet the requirements: for some routes there is a waiting period, called a 'window' (finestra).
After the application is sent, the answer depends on INPS. We'll confirm at our office how long it will take in your case.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to pay for the Patronato?
No. Patronato assistance with pensions, survivor's pensions and checking your contributions is free by law.
When can I retire?
It depends on your age and contributions. For the old-age pension in 2026 you need to be 67 and have at least 20 years of contributions, but there are other routes too. We check your work history and tell you which one suits you best.
Some periods are missing from my contribution statement: what should I do?
Bring us your statement. Gaps and errors can often be corrected, and periods such as military service or maternity can count towards your pension. It is best to check this before you apply.
Do you also handle survivor's pensions?
Yes. We prepare and send the application for spouses, children and other family members who are entitled, and we explain every step to you.
