Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions that matter most
Clear, practical answers on the 730 tax return, ISEE, disability benefits, inheritance and pensions. For your specific case, call us or drop by the office — the first consultation is free.
What is the difference between the ordinary ISEE and the current (corrente) ISEE?
The ordinary ISEE is based on income from two years earlier and on the previous year's assets. If your situation has worsened — job loss, reduced hours, the closure of a business — and income has dropped by more than 25%, you can apply for the current ISEE, which reflects your up-to-date situation and often unlocks benefits and allowances you would otherwise miss.
Is it worth filing the 730 return through the CAF even with the pre-filled form?
Yes. At the CAF we add the compliance stamp (visto di conformità) and take responsibility for the figures: we check the deductions and expenses the pre-filled form often omits — medical costs, renovations, education, mortgage interest — and recover refunds that would otherwise be lost. The adjustment is paid straight into your payslip or pension.
Which documents should I bring to maximise my 730 refund?
Besides the Certificazione Unica, gather every receipt from the year: medical and pharmacy expenses, first-home mortgage interest, renovation and energy-efficiency (ecobonus) work, school and university fees, life insurance, supplementary pension contributions, vet bills and children's sports activities. Even small expenses add up and increase your refund.
How do I apply for civil disability status?
The process starts with the introductory medical certificate, completed by your GP and valid for 90 days. The application is then sent to INPS and you wait for the medical board assessment. Our Patronato handles the entire process free of charge, from the application to any appeals or worsening claims.
What is the deadline for the inheritance declaration, and do I always need a notary?
The inheritance declaration must be filed within 12 months of the date of death. In most cases no notary is needed: we prepare and submit it to the Italian Revenue Agency for you, including the cadastral transfer of any property. A notary is only required when there is a public will or particular gifts.
Who is entitled to a survivor's pension and how much is it?
It goes to the surviving spouse (including separated or divorced spouses receiving maintenance), to minor, student or disabled children and, in some cases, to dependent parents or siblings. The amount ranges from 60% of the deceased's pension for the spouse alone up to 100% with a spouse and two or more children. The Patronato calculates the share and files the application.
